Each year, on the eve of Santa Barbara, three generations (grandparents, sons and daughters) gather around the small lake of Drama to revive a tradition whose roots are lost in the long historical tradition of this acrimonious city.

The atmosphere of the most “magical” celebration of the year, bursts into wooden houses, exits the chimneys and even reaches the tallest trees, diving from there into the illuminated ponds, jumping from water lily to water lily and accompanied by Christmas trees paths by bridges and trails, drifting in the rhythm of the day, whichever is the greater.

The most important custom of the Twelve Days, in the area of Drama, are the disguises that are commonly used in the form of events in the days of the Epiphany. These events, with their general ethical framework, are local variations of the custom of the Twelve Days of Disguise, which have survived to this day with stunning vivacity in Macedonia, rescuing and continuing the tradition of the inhabitants.

The roots of the traditional Carnival tradition of the Choristis Carnival date back to ancient times. The institution of the carnival began with the humor of the inhabitants of Choristis, around the interwar period, where the Clean Monday was established. On that day, locals disguised themselves and gathered at the Separate Elementary School, with tents made by themselves.
